Pro-Tip: To prevent breaking taps, always use plenty of cutting fluid and follow the "turn and back off" rule. Turn the tap forward one-half turn to cut the thread, then back it off one-quarter turn to break the metal chip. This clears the flutes and reduces the torque load on the tool.
